About
The Regional Quantitative Analysis Group (AQR-IREA) is located in the Department of Econometrics, Statistics and Spanish Economy at the University of Barcelona and is integrated in the Research Institute of Applied Economics (IREA). It also takes part of the Scientific Park of Barcelona.
The AQR-IREA Group, with more than forty researchers and twenty years of experience, has been recognized by the regional government of Catalonia as a group of quality and excellence in research in Economics. This designation granted by the Generalitat de Catalunya is the most important honour in the field of research in our region and proves the group’s high quality and its excellence in economic research.
The potential for research of the AQR-IREA research group can be gauged by means of the publication record of its staff in national and international prestigious journals. The group takes part into different public and private projects at regional, national and European level and has participated in numerous international congresses, workshops and seminars. Staff members of AQR have been on short-term visits to international and European research centres.
AQR-IREA organizes seminar series, conferences and post-graduate courses by visiting professors joint with the Economics Faculty. In addition, AQR-IREA organizes internal seminars where staff research on regional economics is presented. Regular staff meetings are scheduled to present results of ongoing projects and to discuss action lines. Internal courses are organised on specific econometrics software or databases
The main research activity of the group is focused in Applied Economics, with a special emphasis on the analysis of urban and regional issues.
